Why didn't concealed weapons laws help Detroit?

Postby lorimar » Thu May 31, 2012 7:01 pm

Most of the time in America, when concealed weapons laws get passed, crime declines.

Unfortunately, this didn't happen in Detroit. Michigan's concealed-carry (CPL) law was enacted in 1996, and since that point, Detroit has actually gotten MORE murderous.

Detroiters seem especially dumb - last year, more than 20 people were legally killed in self-defense by private citizens in Detroit, many with concealed carry permits. But the criminals keep attacking, and Detroit has over 150 murders THIS YEAR alone!

Compare that to Detroit's sister city of Windsor, Ontario. Concealed carry basically doesn't exist in Canada. But last year, Windsor's murder rate was 45 times lower than Detroit's rate.

Why did concealed carry laws fail to civilize Detroit? Are Detroiters simply more savage, dumb, and violent than normal Americans?

Your last sentence hits it on the nail.

I'll bet you 100 bucks you have never set foot in the city, while I have.
Look at the demographics of Windsor and compare it to Detroit.

Concealed carry helped those 20 people stay alive while being attacked by Detroit's savage hordes didn't it?

And I bet none of the murders committed were by someone with a legally purchased and registered firearm.

Do gun manufacturers care about how many guns get into the hands of criminals? If they did they should stop producing them or figure out a better way of distribution

You might look at who is in charge in Detroit since the 70's....EPIC FAIL example of liberalism. Declining middle class, declining streets and homes. Declining tax base..

Get the idea...Decline decline decline decline decline......into a gangsta and lawless giant cesspool ghetto. Where dog fights and drugs are the chief industries. Google and see how many homes are abandoned and torn down. Entire blocks of ruined and cleared away derelicts

Detroit...once Home of the Motorcar. Is now Home of the Pitt Bull and Crack House.

Chicago is right behind....

Crime rates and gun laws do not track.
Your premise is a myth of the NRA.

Because criminals, by the very definition of the word, don't care what the law says.
