Why are 90% of all malpractice cases dropped but still cost on average 110,000 to defend?

Why do doctors perform "defensive medicine" ie order unnecessary tests to avoid lawsuits costing from 5% to 10% of total Medical costs?

Why do trial lawyers have more to say about our health system then the AMA?

I like English law. Like here you can sue but if you lose you have to pay all court cost plus the defendants barrister (lawyer) fees.
