W-9 Form For U.s Citizen Living Abroad?

Postby Aescwyn » Fri Dec 02, 2016 10:50 am

s About Taxes)/W-9 form for U.S citizen living abroad? Advertisement Expert: John L. Tidwell - 4/29/2011 Hi,

I applied for a sideline writing job online and started doing articles for them a month back.  The company only accepts U.S. citizens so being one I was able to work for them.  I won't be able to get my payment unless I fill out a w-9 form and I was just wondering if the w-9 is applicable to us citizens living outside of the U.S or is there another form I need to fill up?

Thanks.

Carlo

ANSWER: Carlo:

A w-9 is for use on information provided to the IRS an yes that is the form to use.

So I can use my current address(in the Philippines) in the W-9?  When I took a look at it seems like it's just for addresses within the U.S.

Thanks

Carlo:

The w-9 form is for use with someone who will be filing a us income tax return.  If you live out of the country and intend to not file a us tax return then the w-9 form is not for you.  However, there is no other form for you fill out in this situation.
