Tomato Paste In A Tube

Postby Jer » Fri Apr 28, 2017 6:27 am

Bought tomato paste in a tube. It says refrigerate after opening. How long should it be safe in the refrigerator ? It says use within 20 days. But it doesn't say "expires". Is this for taste or texture issues or would it actually be unsafe to use for a longer period of time. Thank you. Ingredients are only tomato and salt.

Tomato paste is not classified as potentially hazardous food so you won't get food poisoning but the quality will diminish after 20 days once its opened and refrigerated. So it is for the taste and texture issues. The quality will suffer after 20 days but it still will be safe.
