Time Clock Rounding Up In S.c

Postby Joseph » Sat Dec 03, 2016 9:07 am

My company says that our time clock has a 7 minute "window" from shift to shift. Our schedule is from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If I clock in at 7:00 my time sheet reads 7:00. If I clock in at 6:57 a.m. it reads 7:00. If I clock in at 6:55 Monday through Thursday, it reads 7:00 - BUT if I clock in at 6:55 on Friday, it reads 6:55. No consistency.

If I clock out at 4:00 it reads 4:00. According to our payroll specialist, our time clock should be rolling us back to 4:00 if we clock out up to 7 minutes later. My question is if I am dealing with a customer - working- till 4:07 and clock out, shouldn't the company have to pay me for that time instead of clocking me out at 4:00?

It seems that it has been a matter of what works best for them instead of actually paying me for my time.

It is rounding to the nearest 15 minutes. If you check out at 4:07 you are paid for 4:00 if you check out at 4:08 you will be paid for 4:15.

In the mornings anything from 6:53 forward will be 7:00. If it records 6:55 it will still be rounded to 7:00 on the time when time is processed. If you clock in at 6:52 than it should go back to 6:45. Shirley
