Threats On Facebook

Postby Greyson » Sun Dec 11, 2016 3:13 am

I live in Texas and have been receiving threats to me, my family, my friends, as well as messages to others about me.  They keep making fake profiles, on facebook, because people will block them or turn them in and block their profiles.  The police are involved since they have been threatening to hurt me at my house, but they never show.  I know that they are just all talk and are trying to scare me, but is there legaly anything that I can do to find out who this is exactly and to make it stop?

Hi Rachel,

It sounds like you have already done what you need to by notifying the police. Second you may have legal recourse for a civil lawsuit. I would contact a civil attorney(some here on All Experts) and see if you have grounds for a civil lawsuit.

As for the criminal end, you may not have to worry to much longer as they may be taken care of when the police end up filling criminal charges against them. You can also in most states file for an injunction against them that requires they stop placing anything that is related to you on the Internet. But check with a civil attorney first. I am glad you filed with the police already. They should take care of most of this for you.

Be well and stay safe!
