Starting Property Mgmt. Business

Postby Fayne » Sat Dec 10, 2016 2:05 pm

I would like to start a property management business but I don't know where to start.  I have several friends with second homes in Florida and they would like me to manage.  I have my real estate salespersons license and think I need to get my Broker.  Can I start the business in my home?  What else would I need to start the business?

Hi Cindy:

I'm sorry and I am swamped right now - I can't give you all the information you need and I can give you some places you can get the info. Yes, here in FL you need a Florida Real Estate Brokers license if you want to manage property, unless you plan to put your sales license with a broker.

Generally speaking, you can start the business in your home unless where you live specifically forbids a business in a residence. Make certain you comply with the FL RE law sign requirements.

How to get started:http://www.narpm.org - great resource for managers of single family and small properties.http://www.mrlandlord.com - THE best site for small property management.http://www.nolo.com/resource.cfm/catID/B610DF8A-B9F2-429A-8B9B77A2E203513F/213/2... - THE legal resource for property managers.http://www.landlord.com/ - good site

www.apartmentexpert.com - good site

www.gracehill.com - good site - join for free to access

I hope this helps!

Good luck with your new venture! Doug
