Postby Bardrick » Fri Mar 17, 2017 1:59 am

hi

my wife and i are looking to retire to kenya in the coming years. can you please give us some advise as there does not seem to be anything on line which answers our questions... ie visas/permits taxes etc. your help would be much appreciated as it is atarting to get extremely frustrating. yours.

chris

ANSWER:  Dear Chris, I will be honest with you up front. You will need to come here to fully understand how things work here. - Visa you come in  with tourist Visa which will last longest 6 months.

- You will need resident permits to live here permanently without paying for visitors Visa.

- The easiest way to get resident permit is to start a small business and then have the company apply the resident permit for you. Now I have also to mention that I need to confirm with immigration to know the new law on such matter. I will get back to you on 9th March 2011. I am on safari to Maasi mara and I will be back on 9th march.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

may i just add to my question that we will not be working in kenya or drawing any funds other than those held in england.

regards

chris

Okay my friend, Now so far , this information I have, - You will need to prove that you are officially retired back at home and that you have validf pension funds support you.

- You will also need to confirm that you will not be involved in any business locally and if you get involved you will apply for the work permit. I think it cost about Kshs 25000/ but will need to confirm as things might have changed with the new law. I will get back to you  tomorrow. Thanks, Okeno.
