Relocating In Puerto Rico

Postby Salvador » Sat Nov 19, 2016 9:44 am

Hola Christian,

I am a Canadian citizen married to a Puerto Rican.  What are the requirements should I decide to relocate to Puerto Rico.  My husband owns an apartment in Bayamon and we are thinking of relocating there in the near future.  Do I need special documents to be able to live and work there?

Gracias,

Belinda

Relocating In Puerto Rico

Hello,

There are no special requirements to live and work in Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico is a US Territory, so the requirements for Canadians to live and work here are exactly the same as New York or Massachusetts, for example.

I do not practice Immigration Law, but as far as I know, Canadian citizens are free to travel between Canada and the US. Perhaps you can answer this question better than I can, but rest assured that PR is no different from any other mainland state.
