s About Taxes)/Outside Services Advertisement Expert: Helen P. O`Planick, EA - 10/5/2007 I have a client who has about 205,000 in outside services but he did not acquire w-9's or issue 1099's.  I have no doubt they are business expenses.  Are these ok to put on the return.  They were paid by check.  All of them.

Well, when audited(and the audits are huge in this area right now) he will be questioned as to why he did not issue 1099s, that would have been required I'm sure.  But if they are legit expenses, then he and you should not have a problem claiming them.

Your client needs some education about how to handle subs and his expenses.
