Ohio Fire Laws Smoke Detectors ?

Yes. I'm a landlord and it is the law that smoke detectors are to be installed into rental units, houses, etc. and checked for workability prior a tenant moving in. Once in, it's the tenants responsibilty to keep fresh batteries in them. You must re check them in between tenants as well. You may also ask the tenant for permission to come in once a month to check them to make sure they're working. I check every 2 months if I do not hear from the tenant. I have called them before and had them check them while I was on the phone as well. I never want something like that to happen!
