Non-traffic Citation - Public Urination

Postby Hetheclif » Tue Oct 14, 2014 3:36 pm

My husband received a non-traffic citation for public urination and the officer did not see him urinating in public only coming from an area where other people were urniating - however we are trying to decide if we should just plead guilty and pay the fine to avoid my husband having to take a day off of work to attend a hearing.  Can you tell if this Citation is a Class C Misdemeanor?  If not what type is it.  I am trying to research if pleading guility to this type of Case will affect him when he goes to apply for this US citizenship later this year - because if it will then we will definatly plead not guilty.

Thank You

Non-traffic Citation - Public Urination

Jamie,

Sorry about all this.  I can't advise what your husband should do in court as i am not an attorney.  Most public urination charges are very minor and normally civil in nature.  Class of misdemeanors is defined differently by states. Most of these types of offences never make it into state records they are normally just a fine, no fingerprints etc.  Check with the court, they can tell you if this offense is one that would go on his record.  You can make your decision based on that.

Good luck
