Lottery Mail Scam

Postby delron72 » Tue Jun 07, 2016 2:07 am

Hello.  I received a letter in the mail stating I won a lottery through a web databased computerized draw system.  They sent me a real check in the amount of 2,800.15 to pay the taxes on my 65,000 winnings.  But first they said I needed to call the number given to activate the check and receive further instructions on how to receive my money.  The companies name is Trinity Global, Inc. with an address of 85 Scutti Road, Branchburg, NJ 07402.  The call back number given to me is a number from Canada where the letter came from as well.  I'm supposed to contact an Alex Munata at that number.  They advised me the tax amount on 65,000 is 1,750.00.  They said the drawing was held in October 2011.  They gave me a claim number and the winning numbers as well.  The letter they sent came from Canada with no return address.  The check looks real and is from the First Commonwealth Bank of Indiana, PA.  If you need any more info. please contact me.  Thanks a lot for your time and investigation in this matter to see whether my winnings are real or just a scam.  Thanks.

Lottery Mail Scam

Good morning James,

Do not cash that check! And do not call or contact anyone involved in the lottery. I would gather up all the information that you have and call your local police department immediately. This is a very common kind of scam now and what will happen is if you were to but deposit the check or cash it they would ask you to send them a portion of the winnings back, and then when the check does not clear your bank you are responsible for the amount of the check.

Police departments across the nation are dealing with these types of issues and they may be able to use you in order to further an investigation that may already be taking place at the state and/or federal level. Contact your local police department and report to them that you believe you have a Internet lottery scam information for them including letters and checks sent to your address. I believe they will be very interested and will follow up.
