How to start an invention if you dont know how to make it, but have the idea?

My boyfriend and i have really awesome ideas but we dont know how to make them, or where to start? Do we sell the idea to someone or a company to make? I know we would have to patent it. How much money would we need roughly for each invention to start being made and get patented and what not?

Well.. You are not alone! Guess what? you do NOT have to know how to make your inventive idea. But if you want to make money you will have to be willing to do SOMETHING..
That SOMETHING is to see if you can ID WHO might want to sell your inventive idea on the shelves...

If you have that then in order to work with that someone you will need to get your idea PROTECTED.. The lease expensive way offered by the Federal Government is the Provisional Patent application. It only costs $125 and you can do it yourself. Once you file it you will be able to say Patent Pending. And with that you can approach any BIG COMPANY because they will feel safe dealing with you because they know their efforts will not be unrewarded if someone tries to COPY your idea.

Sadly, good ideas along are a dime a dozen, as professional inventors will tell you, making it a reality can be a long journey. You first step may be doing a patent search to see if anyone has already thought it up, in this digital age it's a lot easier to do a preliminary search, though a complete search might require the assistance of professionals. Take care, thre are many predatory invention assistance companies that promise everyone they have the next million dollar product.

Best advice is to speak to some of the manufacterers or sellers of your product and discuss your idea in principle (obviously not in detail) to see if this is realistic proposition - copyrighst and patents can be time consuming and expensive. The sba provide free business advice that can help
