Housekeeping labor laws and pay rate?

Postby culley96 » Sun Apr 22, 2012 6:36 am

I work at a Super 8, franchise. I have worked there till recently and quit do to employee abuse and harrasment by my employer. I was wondering we do not get paid by the hour here which was really weird to me seeing I have worked at many hotels and was paid hourly. We get paid by the room which is 30 minutes for a check out and 20 minutes for a stay over. Sometimes and most of the time impossible for us to get a room done in 30 minutes the way we are asked and if not done this way we get the room docked from us and we loose that 30 minutes. I have had days I worked 6 hrs to only get paid 4 hours. What are the laws on this and is this even legal? I live in IL
