Disclosure Of Pat Pending Idea To Corporation

Postby melville » Thu Jan 01, 2015 11:56 pm

I downloaded a STERILITE idea submission form. They state that disclosure to STERILE is not confidential and they may go ahead with the idea provided they do not infringe on my patent. Since I have a patent pending, am I practically devoid of any protection by submitting my idea?

The form is about halfway down on this pagehttp://www.sterilite.com/faq.html#ideas

Thanks,

I would try to find someone else that will work off your confidentiality agreement.

Realisticly, however, without decent patent coverage, it will be hard to find someone to license your invention.

This is why the best inventions are the ones you can make on your kitchen table, our build in your own shop or garage, to get started. After you are demonstrating some success, then other companies get interested.

I have a number of helpful texts on my free web site you might want to look into. They are available through your local free public library

Ultimately, your only "protection" is a decent confidentiality agreement(which that wasnt) in the short run, and a decent patent in the long run.

The reason for a confidentiality agreement(as opposed to a disclosure document) is that contract law can be easier to enforce than patent law, according to my attorney.http://www.evansville.net/biz/patagent

I hope that helps. Best wishes on your project!
