Advertising In A Non-profit's Newsletter

Postby Brando » Tue Oct 11, 2016 3:02 am

Greetings: I am launching my non-profit's newsletter in two weeks. My non-profit is looking to sell advertising in our newsletter to offset some of the costs associated with publishing it. If a company pays to advertise in our newsletter, could this company use this expense as a tax write-off?

Yes, advertising is a normal expense for businesses. As for your nonprofit...www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p598.pdf

IRS Publication 598 "Tax on Unrelated Business Income of Exempt

Organizations"

starting on page 10 in the right column under the heading,

"Exploitation of Exempt Activity - Advertising Sales" Harvey Mechanic Attorney At Law [email protected]
